Additional guarantees for ruminants, camelids, semen and embryo from restricted zones in relation to bluetongue

Ruminants (including camelids)m semen and embryo from "bluetongue-restricted zones" in the EU may be imported if they comply with the special conditions described on this page. They apply also to exports from Switzerland

The standard import conditions applicable for a given species are available at the page > topics > import and transit > live animals > live animals from the EU.

Concerning bluetongue the additional guarantees to provide for imports to Switzerland are the same as for intracommunity trade. As from November 1st 2007 these are governed by regulation (EC) 1266/2007. Frontier-crossing movements are by principle not considered "movements of animals within the same restricted zone" in the sense of article 7 paragraph 1.
The exact wording to be confirmed in the particular case in the TRACES-certificate is also prescribed by the regulation.
Swiss importers have to inform at the competent Cantonal veterinary office on possible bans in force, that could prohibit the introduction of animals in a given holding.
