Equine embryo / ova from the EU

Models of the required veterinary import certificates and (as far as available) lists of approved countries of origin and supplying establishments.

The embryos / ova must conform to the requirements of Directive 92/65/EEC. The certificate requirements are laid down in the Decision 95/294/EC.

Models of the prescribed import certificates

The models for the certificates are compatible with the computerised veterinary system TRACES, by which the offical veterinarian must notify all consignments before dispatch. The signed original of the health certificate must accompany the consignment.

Ova or embryos of horses from Romania must conform to Commssion Decision 2010/346/EU on protective measures with regard to infectious anaemia. To this end, donor mares must undergo two Coggins tests, the veterinary certificates must bear the additional wording " embryos of the equine species dispatched in accordance with Commission Decision  2010/346/EU".
