Transits of animals and animal products from a EU Member State to another third country are not subject to border veterinary controls. In the case of animal transports, however, it is absolutely essential to observe the following points. Failure to comply with these requirements can lead to rejections by the cantonal implementing bodies.
- If a health certificate is necessary for animals in intra-Community trade, then this certificate - including any transport schedules that may be needed - must accompany the animals at all times.- The transit of even-toed ungulates by road is strictly forbidden for reasons of animal welfare.
- The same regulations apply for the transit of dogs, cats and ferrets as for imports from the EU.End Content Area
