Holidays in Switzerland with animals of a protected species

If you want to travel Switzerland from abroad with your pet of a protected species, some preparations must be made.

For holidays or short stays in Switzerland with animals of protected species (e.g. tortoises, parrots, birds of prey, etc.) no permit from the FVO is needed, provided the animal travels with the owner or a person commissioned by the owner and this person is in possession of a corresponding

Certificate of Ownership

 

The entry and exit from the country must be confirmed by the customs office on the attached sheet.

The requested certificate of ownership is issued by the responsible species conservation authority (CITES implementing authority) of the country of consignment.
